The attached graphic shows the equipment needed to play ringette:
Notes:
All U12/U14/16/19 players will wear NW ringette pants (black pants with red and white stripes on one leg) and a NW coloured helmet. NW coloured helmets include black, red and white helmets. This policy is in effect for both evaluations and regular season play.
- Shoulder pads are required for all athletes from AS to U19.
- One light and one dark practice jersey are suggested (varies by team). Game jerseys are provided by NW Ringette.
- Please note that a ringette mask (or cage) is different from a hockey mask.
- Neck guard must be BNQ certified.
- From the Ringette Rulebook, the height/length of the stick cannot extend above the player’s armpit while the player is wearing skates. However, the proper stick length is mid-bicep/mid-riff.
- Undergarments are required as well for comfort. Some players prefer wearing socks inside their skates while others do not. A long sleeve undershirt and pants are recommended so the straps from elbow and shin pads do not irritate the player‘s skin.
- A water bottle is very important for hydration. Younger athletes will find s squeeze bottle with long straw easier to use without removing their mask.
- Something to keep long hair back from the face is recommended. Either a ponytail elastic or a ringette skull cap works well.
- Equipment bag large enough to carry all your ringette gear. Wheeled bags are easiest for transporting gear.
- Google each piece of equipment to learn more about proper fitting for safety and performance. There are many videos online for sizing etc.
